This tool was developed within the framework of a cooperation agreement between the European Centre for Modern Languages and the European Commission

Pingo allows users to interact with audiences via live polls. Anyone using a device with a wireless connection takes part in a poll, and no log-in is required. Responses are optimised depending on the device where they are displayed, i.e. they are adaptable to big screens. Users can see/show them in a browser or a PowerPoint presentation. It was developed by the University of Paderborn. Evaluation: A nice, easy and free tool to create quizzes or surveys. The tool’s interface is very user-friendly, both for the creator and other participants. Also, there is no need for participants to sign up in order to partake.

High. Pingo mentions the collection of user data, amongst which IP addresses and browser data, together with cookies. However, these are used for technical security and web server operations, and not for other purposes such as marketing or advertising. Moreover, user data is deleted after 30 days. Pingo does not share data with third parties or display advertisement. Its policy states that users can configure their browser settings to disable cookies. Being a tool developed by an educational institution, it is safe to say that it is non-for-profit and respects users’ privacy. Pingo states compliance with the GDPR. See more here.

Playphrase (Tool to find the pronunciation of words from movies )

Playphrase is a tool that searches specific words or phrases out of movie snippets from a database of audiovisual media with over 60,000 phrases. In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation. Users just have to type specific phrases, watch them being used naturally in context within popular movies and TV shows, and listen to their pronunciation. Playphrase works mainly with English.
