easypolls

Principal function(s): Poll and survey creators

This software allows creating open, online polls that can be published in a website or shared in social media. The user creates whatever question they like and are allowed to create as many possible responses as they wish. The color scheme of the poll can be changed along with its font style and size. The poll can be adapted to allow multiple choice and results can be shown in percentage or in the actual vote count. Evaluation: The tool’s interface is user-friendly, both for the creator and other participants. easypolls can be useful to promote decision-making skills in class in particular and at school in general. It can also be used to test whether students are following what is being taught without testing individual knowledge, for instance, teachers can create polls with questions about the content given in class and check whether the correct response rate is high.

Playphrase (Tool to find the pronunciation of words from movies )

Playphrase is a tool that searches specific words or phrases out of movie snippets from a database of audiovisual media with over 60,000 phrases. In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation. Users just have to type specific phrases, watch them being used naturally in context within popular movies and TV shows, and listen to their pronunciation. Playphrase works mainly with English. Playphrase is not open-source, but it is freely available. It does not require setting up an account or signing in. ... View details
