GoConqr

Principal function(s): Course managementFlashcard creatorsMind mappingQuiz/exercise makers

GoConqr is an online platform that contains different learning and learning management tools for learners, educators, educational institutions, and companies. Users provide the content or draw on content from the platform library. They can also share resources and communicate with other platform users. Content can be organised using mind maps, flashcards, quizzes, notes, slides, or flowcharts. For teachers, the platform contains class management tools, which make course materials available to students and allow tracking of student learning via reports and analytics. The platform also provides a study planner tool. Evaluation: GoConqr may be a good tool, especially for study groups or classes. As the software allows to organise schedules and share files, groups and classes can benefit from having a platform that allows for jointly creating and sharing content. The software also helps individual learners to organise their materials, devise their own learning strategies, and join open groups. Yet, the fact that only the paid option allows to create private courses and resources is a downside of GoConqr.

Latest addition to the ICT-REV inventory

Playphrase (Tool to find the pronunciation of words from movies )

Playphrase is a tool that searches specific words or phrases out of movie snippets from a database of audiovisual media with over 60,000 phrases. In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation. Users just have to type specific phrases, watch them being used naturally in context within popular movies and TV shows, and listen to their pronunciation. Playphrase works mainly with English. Playphrase is not open-source, but it is freely available. It does not require setting up an account or signing in. ... View details
