Dropbox collects various types of data such as account information (name, email, payment info), user-generated content (files, documents, photos), contacts, usage information, device information, and data from cookies and similar technologies. It does so to provide and enhance services, protect users, and for legitimate business needs. Dropbox may use the information for marketing purposes but provides an option to opt-out. It shares data with trusted third parties for business purposes, and with other Dropbox companies. Dropbox is committed to data security and employs measures like two-factor authentication, encryption, and abuse detection. Importantly, users have control over their data, including deletion and access, which is aligned with the spirit of the GDPR.
