The work of the ECML represents a collective effort and determination to enhance the quality in language education at challenging times. The publications illustrate the dedication and active involvement of all those who participated in a series of international projects and training and consultancy activities. The promotion of the programme outputs and their adaptation to different learning environments is supported through National Contact Points in each of the member states of the Centre. Read more

A roadmap for schools to support the language(s) of schooling

What can schools do to help all learners succeed?
How can a school identify and address language needs?
What is the benefit of a whole-school approach that facilitates access to the language(s) of schooling?

“A roadmap for schools to support the language(s) of schooling” enables your school to setup a tailor-made wholeschool strategy to advance learners’ competences in the language(s) of schooling. The web-based tools support the schools to develop the linguistic and critical thinking skills ALL learners need in ALL subjects to ensure learning and school success.

• Information pack for coordinators involved in the school’s development process

The self-assessment tool
It provides an online survey with adapted statements for five stakeholders in schooling: headteachers, teachers, non - teaching staff, students and parents. Based on the survey results, the school receives a customised report highlighting its strengths and areas for development, both as an overview and with respect to specific language-related areas. This process helps initiate reflection upon the language situation within the school.

Promising practices database
In response to the individual results of the school, the ROADMAP offers examples of promising practices from all over Europe and beyond. These can be adapted to specific contexts and help plan a wholeschool strategy, in direct response to the needs identified in the context of the selfassessment process.

Coordinator’s package The Coordinator’s package contains a wide range of documents in order to support the implementation of the ROADMAP.
