Learning English by Cambridge

Hauptfunktion(en): Autonomous learningGame apps

This is Cambridge’s platform to support the learning of English. It includes different sections. Firstly, there are the “Activities for Learners”, with up to 176 activities in different levels to learn English. This section includes a search tool to filter activities by skill, level and the time needed to complete them. Secondly, there are “Exam Preparation” materials for the different examination levels. Thirdly, there is a “Free Resources” tab, which includes the “Write and Improve” tool and the “Games and Social Media” tab with applications that support language learning, information for parents, and more. Bewertung: A useful, easy-to-navigate and enriching array of activities, tools and sources of information regarding the teaching and learning and English. Many of the tools can be accessed immediately and without installation. They can be used as a complementary activity for a class or a method to support personal learning at home. Many of the tools are already very popular, such as “Write and Improve”, while others also have much to offer. All in all, it is a very useful compilation of resources by a renowned institution such as Cambridge. It can be useful in many ways for teachers, students and parents.

High. Learning English by Cambridge collects extensive cookies but they are only used for improving the service. They also send marketing information, although only with consent. User data is shared with third parties, but only for purposes related to the same platform. The privacy policy mentions security measures and users’ rights to correct, delete, limit or stop using their personal information. LearningEnglish by Cambridge does not explicitly declare compliance with the GDPR but it mentions EU Data Protection Authorities. See more here.

Playphrase (Tool to find the pronunciation of words from movies )

Playphrase is a tool that searches specific words or phrases out of movie snippets from a database of audiovisual media with over 60,000 phrases. In this manner, it provides real-life examples of words’ and sentences’ pronunciation.
